Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros placed catcher Jason Castro on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, officially ending his breakout 2013 season.

Castro, the Astros lone representative at this years All-Star Game, has played in just two games -- serving as the designated hitter in both -- since Sept. 2 due to a cyst in his right knee. The 26-year-old established career highs of 18 home runs, 56 RBI and a .276 batting average while participating in 120 games this season. He was also a two-time recipient of the American Leagues Player of the Week award this season.
