导出博客文章MONTREAL - With Montreal facing the prospect of going winless in three straight
Major League Soccer games for the first time this season, a match against last
place Chivas USA could be just what the Impact need. Montreals first home loss
followed by a 3-3 draw in Toronto on Wednesday night made it the third time that
the Impact have gone two in a row without a win. On Sunday they host Chivas
(3-10-4), which enters on the strength of a scoreless road draw in Dallas but
havent won a league game in over three months. "For sure this game can be a bit
of a trap," Impact defender Hassoun Camara said after practice Friday. "They
have had a lot of turnover and they may not even really know where they stand
right now, but at the same time we saw that they came up with a strong effort in
Dallas with a draw on the road. "Were going to have to be aware of how they are
developing, but I think that were really going to have to sort out our little
faults and continue to move forward with what we know how to do." What the
Impact knows how to do is score goals. Montreal was the first MLS team to reach
30 goals this season. The problem is they have also been allowing too many
lately, a total of seven in their last two games, including a 4-3 loss to
Colorado last Saturday. "I think the second half against Toronto we turned a
corner a little bit," Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins said. "Even against
Houston, we win 2-0 but I dont think we were that solid defensively. We gave up
too many good chances, and chances that were in really dangerous spots for us,
but I think in the second half we were much better. "We tried to play at one
point, we got caught with it, and at that point we say, Look, we cant do that.
Its not going to be that easy. So I think moving forward we have a good feeling
about ourselves and this is a good chance for us to solidify our defensive
third." Camara acknowledges that the Impacts defence needs to step up. "Sure its
tough. Every team wants to beat us now," Camara said. "Were in first place so
that makes us a challenge and we have to be ready for a big effort. Its up to us
to be stronger when it gets tough because I think the goals we allowed in
Toronto were avoidable. It was really a time in the game when they pushed hard
and we werent able to hold them off so we need to rectify that as soon as
possible, and continue to generate a strong offence." Chivas has gone 0-10-3
since March 30, when a 2-1 win over Vancouver capped a 3-1-1 start to the
season. Perkins says the Impact have no way of knowing what version of the other
Los Angeles-based MLS team will take the pitch at Saputo Stadium on Sunday
night. "You dont. You really dont," Perkins said. "The players they have are
very technical players. You know that theyre going to try to play but you dont
know what youre going to get from them. I mean, you may get one of the best
teams in the league one day and then the next day youre going to get the worst
team in the league. So for us we have to approach it the way we always do. Its
our home, its our game so we have to make them play the way we want them to
play." Impact coach Marco Schallibaum will be back on the sideline Sunday after
sitting out his third one-game suspension of the season. "That was a big point
for our team," Schallibaum said. They have a good mentality to never give up
until the end of the game. That is one of the biggest strengths of our team."
The longtime European coach was suspended for stepping on the field during the
loss to Colorado, a trangression that did not result in Schallibaum being
ejected from the game or sanctioned by the referee. "I cant say what I think
because then I have a problem again with the MLS, but I think that it was very
hard for something that was not aggressivity behind, or something like this,"
Schallibaum said. "So thats the first thing and the second is its very hard to
be on the bench when you are a coach, but it is much harder when you are
upstairs. But that is I hope the last time Im there somewhere in the stadium
because it is not easy for a coach." NOTES: The Impact signed midfielder Paolo
DelPiccolo to a contract Friday. The Wheat Ridge, Colo., native was chosen 27th
overall by Montreal in the second round of the January 2013 MLS Superdraft.
"This is a tough team to be on," DelPiccolo said. "Its a good team, so it feels
good to be a part of it."

defence of Kessel during a pre-season game against the Buffalo Sabres, will cost

the crowd erupted, Davis knocked the ball off the glass and back into his hands.
With 1:14 to go in overtime, Davis sixth block also became his 17th rebound.
That, along with his 32 points -- which tied a career high -- proved too much
for Denver to overcome, and the Pelicans held on for their third straight
victory, 111-107 on Sunday night. ATLANTA -- At first, Russell Westbrook couldnt
get the shots to fall. No problem. He crashed the boards and kept looking for
his teammates. Then, he found his shooting touch. The result: another
triple-double for the Oklahoma City star.Westbrook scored 32 points, grabbed 13
rebounds and dished out 12 assists, extending his streak of triple-doubles to
six games as the Thunder held off the Atlanta Hawks 102-99 on Monday night. It is
the NBAs longest such run since Michael Jordan had seven in a row in 1989.I just
read the game, Westbrook said. The game will tell you what to do.Westbrook has
sparked a six-game winning streak by the Thunder and reached double figures in
all three categories in half of their 22 games.By contrast, Jordan had 15
triple-doubles for the entire 1988-89 season.Obviously, the league hasnt seen
something like this in a long, long time, Thunder coach Billy Donovan
said.Westbrook kept his streak alive with plenty of time to spare. He had 15
points and 11 rebounds when he picked up his 10th assist with 6:20 left in the
third quarter. Scooping up a loose ball after a turnover by the Hawks, Westbrook
led a 2-on-1 that ended with a pass to Victor Oladipo for a layup that gave the
Thunder a 69-59 lead.My job is to find those guys, Westbrook said.He found his
range in the third quarter after missing eight of his first nine shots.
Westbrook knocked down five of seven, three of them beyond the arc, and finished
with 16 points in the period as the Thunder stretched a one-point halftime lead
to 83-69 heading to the fourth.Atlanta rallied down the stretch, but Westbrook
closed it out for the Thunder. He finished with 27 second-half points to send
the Hawks to their seventh straight loss and 10th defeat in the last 11
games. Its the longest losing streak for the Hawks since they dropped eight in a
row in February 2014.Coach Mike Budenholzer decided to shake things up, sending
Kyle Korver to the bench and putting Thabo Sefolosha in the starting lineup. The
Hawks also were bolstered by the return of Paul Millsap, who had missed three
straight games with a sore hip. He led five players in double figures with 24
points. It didnt matter. Westbrook made suure of that.ddddddddddddHe can do so
many different things, said Sefolosha, who was often matched on Westbrook. Its
definitely mind-blowing. And the way he does it. Hes everywhere.Atlanta had a
shot to send the game to overtime after Korver forced a jump ball.Westbrook and
the Thunder clamped down defensively off the inbounds play, and Tim Hardaway
Jr.s desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer failed to hit the rim.Cant dwell on it,
Hardaway said. Ive got to move on to the next play, the next game.KORVERS NEW
ROLEKorver played more than 31 minutes and seemed to thrive in his new role as a
backup. He finished with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, knocking down three of
them beyond the arc. It was his most points in a game since Nov. 22.Korver had
averaged 6.6 points over his last seven games, which led to his benching.MONSTER
JAMOladipo wasnt afraid to take on Dwight Howard in the lane.During the second
quarter, the 6-foot-4 Thunder guard drove the baseline and slammed one over
Atlantas 6-11 center, rocking the rim and drawing gasps from the crowd.Oladipo
savored the moment, pumping his fists, stomping his feet and posing briefly in
the lane even as the Hawks took off the other way.RECRUITING DWIGHTDonovan made
a recruiting pitch to Howard while coaching at Florida.During his pregame chat
with the media, the Oklahoma City coach recounted a visit to Howard and his
father at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy.Donovan quickly gave up any hope
of getting Howard to attend college. All I had to do was watch one AAU game and
then I stopped recruiting him immediately, he quipped.Howard, of course, went
straight from high school to the NBA in the days before the rules required at
least one year of college. He was the first overall pick by the Orlando Magic in
2004.UP NEXTThunder: Off until Friday, when they host the Houston Rockets.Hawks:
