导出博客文章LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Torian Graham scored 22 points and Shannon Evans II
had 21 to lift Arizona State to an 80-71 victory over Tulane in the losers
bracket of the Tire Pros Invitational.Sam Cunliffe scored 10 for the Sun Devils
who pulled away from Tulane in the final seven minutes to improve to 3-1. ASU
lost its first game in the tournament by 19 points to Northern Iowa.We showed up
ready to play today, ASU Coach Bobby Hurley said. I dont want to make excuses,
but that game (Northern Iowa) wasnt our best effort. We were lethargic the whole
time. I thought we were much more aggressive defensively and when a couple of
shots fell, we settled down to play pretty good offensively.Tulane (1-3) got 22
points from Melvin Frazier Jr. and 17 from Cameron Reynolds, but the Green Wave
offense fizzled in the final seven minutes when the game was still within
reach. We had a nice run where we got defensive stops and were taking our time on
offense, Reynolds said. But as soon as we started rushing things, we let them
push it back at us and didnt defend like we should.ASU had an 11-point lead at
halftime, but couldnt shake the Green Wave until late in the second half.Tulane
found some room taking the ball to the basket against ASUs man-to-man defense
and cut their deficit to just 61-58 when Von Julien scored on a driving layup
with 7:02 left in the game.ASU center Ramon Villa woke up the Devils offense
with a follow-shot jam and Graham scored five straight points to push the lead
back to a more comfortable 68-58 with just under five minutes left. The Green
Wave never got closer than seven the rest of the game.BIG PICTUREArizona State:
The Sun Devils were basically a no-show in its first game of the tournament,
losing 82-63 to Northern Iowa, so the win over Tulane was a huge lift. The game
against Northern Iowa didnt feel good at all, Graham said. We were much better
at executing today. It feels good to come back and get a victory after the way
we played.Tulane: Green Wave coach Mike Dunleavy was impressed with his teams
effort as well. In that second half, we ran some nice sets, but they hit some
shots at crucial times and that was the difference, Dunleavy said. Our guys
played hard, but we missed some shots at the rim and they hit at the other
end.THREE INSTEAD OF TWOTulane was six of 14 on 3-pointers in the first half,
but only 2 of 9 from inside the arc. Cameron Reynolds, who missed his first five
shots, hit three straight 3-pointers in a 2-minute stretch late in the half.UP
NEXTArizona State will play Davidson Sunday in the fifth place game.Tulane,
which has lost twice in the tournament, will play Missouri in the seventh place
game Sunday.

(KEVIN DURANT-Thunder) - Has been sensational this season and more importantly,
the most consistent player in the league. Considering that his team has been
without star guard Russell Westbrook and with the free agent departure of
sharpshooter Kevin Martin, hes had to carry the majority of the load to not only
keep his team afloat but more importantly, at an elite level.

Cristie Kerr brought the wine for the final team dinner of deep dish pizza. She
sent text messages to her teammates to try to keep them loose. When the United
States had a chance to win the UL International Crown, she finished the job.Kerr
held on for a 3-and-2 victory over Melissa Reid on Sunday to give the Americans
the title in the rare team event on the LPGA Tour.I think I play better when
there is more pressure, said Kerr, who was the last player to tee off for the
U.S.Kerr & Co. were shut out in the first session Thursday, but they got
progressively better over the weekend. Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller closed out
wins before Reid missed a birdie putt on 16, which handed the decisive victory
to Kerr.Lewis and Piller ran to the green for a group hug when it was over.
Kerrs caddie, Brady Stockton, grabbed the flag at 16 to save it for his
player.Lexi Thompson lost 2 and 1 to South Koreas So Yeon Ryu and then joined
the celebration at a muggy Merit Club about 40 miles northwest of Chicago. The
Americans won a silver trophy, and each of the players took home a crown and
$100,000 apiece. To be called the best golfing nation, I think, is pretty
satisfying, Lewis said.Lewis, Kerr and Thompson played on the U.S. team that
finished a disappointing sixth in the inaugural event in 2014 and failed to make
it to the final day at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland. But Piller joined the
group for an American victory in the Solheim Cup last year in Germany, and their
chemistry and confidence in one another was on full display when they decided to
keep the same four-ball pairings after they came up empty Thursday.Coming into
this week, everyone was playing really well, and for us to be paired with the
people we played at Solheim, I thiink thats been a huge help in the success that
weve had, [and] that just gives us extra confidence, Piller
said.ddddddddddddKerr and Thompson teamed for wins Friday and Saturday, and the
momentum carried over into singles. Piller cruised to a 4-and-3 victory over
Taiwans Yani Tseng, and Lewis posted a 3-and-2 win over Japans Mika
Miyazato.South Korea, which was the top seed coming into the event, finished
second with 12 points, one back of the United States. Taiwan and England tied
for third with 11, and Japan finished fifth with eight points. The International
Crown moves to the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea, in 2018.We
couldnt win the tournament, but anyway, we still finished better than last time,
Ryu said. Last time, were third, and this year second, so hopefully we can get a
crown at 2018.South Korea and Japan each had long days after thunderstorms
postponed the final part of the third session to Sunday. South Korea advanced to
the singles matches with a pair of four-ball victories against Australia, and
Japan won a three-team playoff for the final spot in the singles session.Sundays
singles matches were delayed 62 minutes by rain.Sei Young Kim showed no signs of
fatigue in a dominant 5-and-4 victory over Englands Charley Hull, but
countrywomen Amy Yang and In Gee Chun lost their matches. Japan split its four
singles matches, with Haru Nomara and Ayaka Watanabe on the winning side.England
had the lead with nine points coming into the day, but it wasnt able to keep up
its surprising play. Jodi Ewart Shadoff beat Taiwans Ssu-Chia Cheng 1 up for the
countrys only victory of the final session. ' ' '
