导出博客文章John Herdman says hes happy as head coach of the Canadian womens soccer team,
but would listen if approached about taking the vacant England job. The womens
team has had considerable success since Herdman joined the team in 2011. Canada
won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics and gold at the 2011 Pan American Games.
Herdman said on Wednesday that hes focused on preparing his team as Canada hosts
the 2015 World Cup, but added that if England came calling, hed have to listen.
England is in need of someone to lead its womens team after longtime coach Hope
Powell was fired Tuesday. "John Herdman is a name thats going to be at the
forefront of their short list, Im sure," TSN Soccer analyst Jason deVos said.
"Hes done exceptionally well as the manager of the Canadain Womens National team
program and the English FA would be fullish not to consider going after someone
like Herdman as they look top take their program forward into World Cup
qualifying and then the Olympics in 2016." "I think its a massive lose," deVos
said, speaking of losing Herdman as Canadas coach. "Hes done an outstanding job
with the womens program and to lose him at this stage would, with just under two
years to go to the Womens World Cup in 2015, would be a big blow for Canadian
soccer." The Canadian Soccer Association said Wednesday that Herdman was not
available for comment.

receiver Markus Wheaton return to the lineup against Baltimore. Wheaton is
dealing with a lingering shoulder injury sustained in the preseason.Wheaton
missed the first two games of the season, but returned to catch passes in the
next three. He suffered a setback and missed the previous two games against
Miami and New England.Anytime you take a step backwards its frustrating, Wheaton
