[b]Rasheem Green Jersey[/b] . -- A judge on Friday convicted Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in his Alabama hometown and imposed an 18-day jail term that could interrupt the players bid to restart his career. Municipal Judge Billy Cook convicted McClain on the misdemeanour counts after a non-jury trial that lasted about three hours. McClain was accused of yelling an obscenity at police trying to arrest him during a disturbance in a crowded city park in 2013. McClain wont have to report for his jail sentence until after an appeal is complete in state court. Cook also ordered McClain to pay $1,572 in fines and court costs. Its unclear how long an appeal might take. The judge signed a document stating McClain, 25, was free to leave the state while challenging the conviction. Defence attorney Harvey Steinberg said McClain would head to Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif., within hours of the trial. "My attitude is I think I ran into the only person in the entire state of Alabama that would convict Rolando McClain based on this evidence," said Steinberg. "Unfortunately, it happened to be the judge." The former Alabama Crimson Tide star maintained his innocence and said police arrested the wrong person. Hes been arrested three times in Decatur since 2011. McClain tried to delay the trial so he could attend the start of NFL training camp this week, but a judge refused. The Cowboys acquired the rights to McClain from Baltimore on July 1. He was the eighth overall pick by Oakland in 2010 but hasnt played since 2012.

It will be a difficult job.With the greatest respect the player roster he has at Wakefield has not got the same ring to it as some of the other clubs. He is going to have to get the best out of what he has, and make sure that he gets the best out of each individual so that the team plays beyond their potential.They are dealing with a lot of issues especially the insecurity surrounding their finances but I think it will be a great lesson for Chester and really develop his coaching abilities.

There are very few coaches who can get it right on the grass and off the grass.Someone like John Kear is perfect to be teamed up with Chester - Kear has done all the top jobs and has done it at an international level. He has so much experience and still has a heck of a lot to offer.I see this as a real long-term commitment. So often clubs would rather spend money on a short-term fix - like put the money into the pockets of an overseas player.
