emphatic 4-1 win over Malaysia in the third-place playoff in Melbourne on
Sunday.Akashdeep Singh gave India an early lead in the 2nd minute from a field
goal. Skipper VR Raghunath doubled the lead in the 45th minute through a penalty
corner. Joel van Huizen pulled one back for Malaysia in the third quarter, but
India regained control in the 52nd minute with Talwinder Singhs field goal.
Rupinder Pal Singh scored his sixth goal of the tournament in the 58th minute to
seal a comfortable win.Meanwhile, the womens team lost 3-1 to Australia in the
decider of the three-match Test series. Captain Vandana Kataria opened the
scoring for India in the 17th minute through a field goal. However, Australia
fought back in the second half, scoring in the 39th, 41st and 58th minute to
take the series 2-1. India had beaten the hosts in the opener, before losing the
second match on Friday.

Bauer, his finger hadnt bled in the previous two days, leading the Indians to

his ring finger after the third pitch of an at-bat against Troy Tulowitzki, the

foreign-substance rule, and Gibbons said MLB discussed the situation with the
teams ahead of time.The other night we had a pre-series meeting, they brought up
the injury and MLB told both teams if he starts bleeding at all hes got to come
out of the game, Gibbons said. Regardless, you cant put anything on it to do all
that, and we kept getting calls that he was bleeding pretty good.Bauer was
replaced by Dan Otero after 21 pitches.The Indians knew this was a possibility.
Before the game, manager Terry Francona outlined a scenario in which Bauer would
have to leave the game early, forcing the bullpen into action. As a result, he
