has been suspended by the team for a few days for a violation of team rules,
according to a source.The Patriots host the Bears in preseason action Thursday
night and Branch isnt expected to be with the team.The 31-year-old Branch
started 15 regular-season games for the club in 2015, playing 39.6 percent of
the defensive snaps, which ranked second among the teams defensive tackles. He
finished with 33 tackles, one sack and two passes defended as a disruptive
interior presence.Branch played for the Cardinals (2007-10), Seahawks (2011-12)
and Bills (2013) before joining the Patriots in the middle of the 2014 season.
He had been released by the Bills in August of 2014, when he was entering the
second season of a three-year, $8.5 million deal ($3.1 million signing bonus)
but made headlines with a DUI arrest.?In his third season with the Patriots, he
projects to start alongside 2015 first-round pick Malcom Brown this season.
Eight-year veteran Terrance Knighton, free-agent signee Markus Kuhn and
third-round draft choice Vincent Valentine are next on the depth chart.Branchs
