导出博客文章The World Anti-Doping Agency has lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration
for Sports against the clean chit given to wrestler Narsingh Yadav by NADA in
the dope scandal.WADA has appealed against the NADA (National Anti-Doping
Agency) clearance in Court of Arbitration (CAS). Now the hearing is on and the
IOA Secretary General (Rajeev Mehta) is there with WADA officials, Indian
contingents chef-de-mission Rakesh Gupta told PTI.The hearing is set to take
place at 9AM Brazil time on August 18.If CAS upholds WADAs appeal Narsingh, who
is scheduled to fight in the 74kg freestyle category on August 19, will not be
able to take part in the Rio Games. He could also face a career-threatening

to appeal. While Indian officials had been intimated about the appeal a few days
ago, the wrestlers camp received information about it only today.The WFI said
they were intimated about the appeal yesterday at 3pm, and requested for the
hearing to be held after his first bout, on August 20. They felt the timing of
the appeal was unusual since they had forwarded the NADA decision long ago, and
had even received clearance from them.?Narsingh is one of our best medal
contenders. To put him tjrough this mental agony just ahead of his bout is
really unfortunate, the WFI said.?India is yet to secure a medal in Rio and
their campaign is now down to four disciplines - track and field, badminton,
golf and wrestling. Narsingh, along with badminton players P V Sindhu and
Kidambi Srikanth, is one of the few prominent names left in the list of Indias
medal hopefuls.
