Blizzard: " World of Warcraft was not created to be a free-to-play game buy WoTLK Gold"

Blizzard entertainment has no plans to make World of Warcraft a free-to-play game. Talking to P2Pah on the eve of BlizzCon the senior game producer Jason Hutchins said switching from paying to free isn't an ideal design decision for the time being, at least according to how Blizzard perceives it.

"We're really happy with our business model we have now It's very effective. We've got a stable player base we're very excited to be a part of," Hutchins said. " World of Warcraft is not meant to be a game that is free to play. I think that in order for free-to-play games to be successful the games must be built in that manner from the ground up and we're not there yet."

World of Warcraft currently has 7.6 million players and is the highest subscription-based MMO on the market. Many competitors such as Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic started their existence as paid-for games prior to adopting a free-to-play business model.

The Elder Scrolls Online will launch next year as an MMO with a subscription model, and Sony has not yet disclosed whether EverQuest Next will be able to charge the cost of a subscription or not.

Blizzard revealed World of Warcraft 's fifth expansion today: Warlords of Draenor. For more details on the expansion, take a look at P2Pah's explanation of the upcoming add-on.

BlizzCon 2018 is expected to be the largest yet, and surpass last year's attendance of 35K cheap WoW WoTLK Classic Gold.
